Consultation: The process typically begins with a consultation with our qualified and experienced medical practitioner. During this consultation, you'll discuss your concerns, goals, and the areas where you'd like to reduce wrinkles.

2) Step 2

Assessment: The practitioner assesses your facial muscles and skin to determine the appropriate treatment areas and the amount of botulinum toxin needed to achieve the desired results.

3) Step 3

Botulinum Toxin Injection: Using a fine needle, the practitioner injects a small amount of botulinum toxin into specific facial muscles responsible for causing wrinkles and lines. Botulinum toxin works by temporarily blocking nerve signals to these muscles, reducing their ability to contract.

4) Step 4

Multiple Injections: Depending on the treatment area and the number of wrinkles, multiple injections may be administered. Commonly treated areas include the forehead, between the eyebrows (glabellar lines), and around the eyes (crow's feet).

5) Step 5

Results: Botulinum toxin typically takes a few days to start taking effect and may take up to two weeks for the full results to become noticeable. Wrinkles and fine lines in the treated areas will gradually smooth out, leaving a more youthful appearance.

Pre-treatment advice
Do's
  • Consultation: Schedule a consultation with a qualified and experienced medical practitioner who specialises in anti-wrinkle injections. Discuss your concerns, goals, and any questions you have about the procedure.
  • Provide Medical History: Be honest about your medical history, including any medical conditions, allergies, medications you're currently taking, or previous cosmetic procedures. This information helps the practitioner assess your suitability for treatment.
  • Set Realistic Expectations: Understand the potential results of anti-wrinkle injections and have realistic expectations. These injections can soften wrinkles and lines but may not completely eliminate them.
  • Stay Hydrated: Maintain good hydration in the days leading up to your appointment. Well-hydrated skin tends to respond better to the injections.
Don'ts
  • Avoid Blood-Thinning Medications: If you are taking blood-thinning medications or supplements, consult your healthcare provider about temporarily discontinuing them before the treatment. Blood-thinners can increase the risk of bruising at the injection sites.
  • No Alcohol or Caffeine: Refrain from consuming alcohol and excessive caffeine the day before your appointment, as they can contribute to increased bruising and swelling.
  • Don't Take Aspirin or NSAIDs: Avoid aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for at least 24-48 hours before your appointment, as they can increase the risk of bruising and bleeding.
  • Avoid Herbal Supplements: Some herbal supplements, such as ginkgo biloba and garlic, can also increase the risk of bruising. It's advisable to avoid these supplements in the days leading up to the procedure.
  • Don't Massage the Area: Avoid massaging or manipulating the treatment area for at least 24 hours before the procedure, as this can increase the risk of bruising.
  • No Waxing or Chemical Peels: Avoid waxing or chemical peels in the treatment area for at least one week before the procedure. These treatments can irritate the skin and increase the risk of complications.
  • Don't Sunbathe or Use Tanning Beds: Minimise sun exposure and avoid tanning beds for at least two weeks before your appointment. Sunburned or tanned skin can affect the efficacy of the injections.
Post-treatment advice
Do's
  • Follow Aftercare Instructions: Listen carefully to the post-treatment instructions provided by your practitioner. These instructions are essential for a smooth recovery.
  • Stay Upright: Avoid lying down flat or bending forward for at least four hours after the treatment. This helps prevent the spread of the injected toxin to unintended muscles.
  • Be Gentle: Be gentle with the treated area. Avoid rubbing, massaging, or touching it unnecessarily for at least 24 hours. This helps prevent the toxin from migrating to other areas.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Proper hydration can help with the healing process.
  • Use Sun Protection: Apply sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to the treated area if you plan to be exposed to sunlight. Sun protection helps preserve the results and prevents premature aging.

  • Avoid Alcohol: Refrain from consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours after the treatment. Alcohol can increase the risk of bruising and swelling.
  • No Strenuous Exercise: Avoid intense physical activity, heavy lifting, and strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours after the treatment. These activities can increase blood flow and potentially disperse the injected toxin.
  • Don't Rub or Massage: Do not rub or massage the treated area for at least 24 hours. This can affect the placement of the toxin and its effectiveness.
  • Avoid Heat and Saunas: Steer clear of hot baths, saunas, and steam rooms for a few days post-treatment, as heat can potentially affect the results.
  • Don't Take Blood-Thinning Medications: Avoid aspirin and NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) for at least 24-48 hours after the procedure, as they can increase the risk of bleeding and bruising.
  • Avoid Facial Treatments: Refrain from getting facials, chemical peels, or other facial treatments for at least two weeks after the treatment. These treatments can irritate the skin and affect the results.
  • No Makeup Application: Avoid applying makeup to the treated area for at least 4-6 hours post-treatment to reduce the risk of infection.
  • Don't Overdo It: Avoid additional cosmetic procedures, such as dermal fillers, in the treated area immediately after the anti-wrinkle injections.
